Hagebau partners with guenstiger.de to increase sales and diversify the price search channel
Founded in 1964, hagebau is an association of around 350 legally independent shareholders in the specialist and retail building materials trade. The group has more than 1,500 stores in seven European countries. With its subsidiary hagebau connect, for which 135 employees work, hagebau has been operating the online shop hagebau.de since 2018.
guenstiger.de is one of the leading price comparison services in Germany and as an independent consumer platform provides its users with all the information they need to make the right decision when shopping. In addition to guenstiger.de, the comparison services Preissuchmaschine.de, preis.info and the Hungarian sites Argep.hu and ArPortal.hu also belong under the umbrella of guenstiger.de GmbH. As a certified Premium CSS Partner of Google, guenstiger.de also has the option to place products as Product Listing Ad (PLA) on Google in order to reach an even larger group of shoppers throughout Europe.
Challenge
Hagebau has been working successfully with guenstiger.de since 2022. hagebau's main goal was to increase sales of its products while keeping costs low. As hagebau manages its own Google Shopping campaigns via CSS, the integration via guenstiger.de was used to complement its own campaign.
Approach
We solved hagebau's challenge of having a diversified product listing on both guenstiger.de and Google Shopping while maintaining a low COS, through a variety of measures. For example, we used a proprietary statistical model to predict product bids based on historical data and optimised the product portfolio by device, price, category performance and monetisation potential.
Results
Together with the hagebau team, guenstiger.de was able to take hagebau's shopping campaigns to a new level through intelligent optimisation and the use of automation tools. After just one year, the results are clearly visible: 3x more clicks and 18x more sales were generated when comparing Q2 2023 to Q2 2022. ROAS improved by 320% year on year. The conversion rate is also up, with a 30% increase from Q2 to Q1 2023.
